We have a
very full programme of activities. At many
schools you are left alone during the time
outside of formal lessons, and students tend
to stay with other students of the same nationality,
speaking their own language instead of developing
their German. Our programme, however, is designed
to bring students of all nationalities together
and to encourage them to speak German in authentic
situations.
Afternoon activities:
In late spring, summer and autumn we explore
our environment. The Alps is an area of outstanding
natural beauty.
*Freetimeprogramme:
skiing in winter and spring (end of November
until the first week of May). In late spring,
summer and autumn, a variety of cultural and
sporting excursions.
The area is of outstanding
natural beauty and the mountain walks and
the natural lakes are spectacularly beautiful.
We also visit the historic towns of Innsbruck,
Salzburg and Munich, and sometimes we make
whole day trips to these towns. These cultural
excursions in the school bus are very popular
amongst students. Every programme is accompanied
by a native German speaking teacher who encourages
students to speak German and who helps beginners
to use their new language skills.
In the ski season, we go
skiing or snowboarding. The season runs from
the end of November to the beginning of May.
We usually agree in the coffee break between
morning lessons where we will ski, based on
the weather conditions, snow conditions and
experience of the group. The school is a 5
minute walk from the nearest ski bus stop,
and we normally fix a time to meet there before
setting off together for the slopes. The school's
director, who leads the group, is a former
ski instructor and knows the mountains very
well. He advises on the best places to ski
and keeps the group together.
